How we verify

With events, trust isn't just in the number, it's in the path to it: who reviewed, with what proof of attendance and how long after. Here is how we do it, no fine print.

01The verification ladder

Every review gets a level, from strongest (A) to weakest (E). The level appears next to each review, linking to this page.

  1. A: Box-office ticket

A partner box office confirms your ticket was scanned at the door. It's the strongest proof.

    with partners
  2. B: Venue QR at the door

At the entrance you scan a QR shown by the venue that changes every few seconds. A photo of it won't work later.

    with partners
  3. C: In-app check-in, on time and on site

You check in through the app during the event and near the venue. We check time and distance, then discard the coordinates.

  4. D: Reviewed proof

You send proof (ticket, wristband, receipt) and a person on our team reviews it.

    coming soon
  5. E: Not verified

Votes without proof of attendance. They count, they show, and they're labeled as such. We never fake verification.

    live

Today every review is level E: attendance verification is being switched on gradually, with partner venues and box offices. We show that on every review instead of pretending.

02Verified VibeMeter

✓ verified

Levels A to C only

The verified VibeMeter uses only votes with proof of attendance (levels A, B and C). D and E votes are shown separately, never mixed in.

all votes · not verified

Until there are enough verified votes

Until there are at least 20 verified votes, we show the VibeMeter of all votes labeled “not verified”. No score is ever shown as verified when it isn't.

03Blind voting

Before voting you only see the form: no average, no histogram, no reviews. Other people's opinions appear after your vote.

Why? An artificial first upvote inflates the final rating by about 25% (Muchnik, Aral and Taylor, Science, 2013). Voting blind protects your opinion and everyone else's. If you just want to look, use “Skip and see the reviews”.

04When we ask for your review

  • Night events: the next morning, from 10 am, with the night still fresh and after some rest.
  • Day or sunset events: 2 to 4 hours after they end.
  • Only if you marked “I went”, a single email per night, in your language. You can review for up to 14 days.
  • Every review shows how long after the event it was written.

05Privacy

  • Your attendance history is private. Nobody sees where you went: not other people, not the venues.
  • Going to certain events can reveal sensitive data (for example, LGBTQIA+ parties). That's why private is the default, not an option.
  • With in-app check-in (level C), we check time and distance and discard the coordinates. We don't store your location.
  • Your email is stored encrypted and is only used to sign you in and to ask for your review.
  • In “My account” you can export everything as JSON or delete your account. When you delete it, your personal data is erased and your reviews remain as “Anonymous”.
  • No paid product changes a score or the order of reviews.
