Warsaw, 1939. The celebrated Jewish pianist and composer Wladyslaw Szpilman (Adrien Brody) narrowly escapes deportation from the Warsaw Ghetto. Filled with fear, he wanders alone through the city, which has been transformed into a lifeless landscape of ruins.
